If you have Eczema prone skin it's important to take special care to manage and soothe your skin.
Here we offer some tips to help you manage the care of your skin.
Keep skin moisturised.
Moisturising is crucial for eczema prone skin as it helps to restore and maintain the skin's natural moisture barrier.
Use fragrant free & hypo allergenic moisturisers that are specially formulated for sensitive skin. Apply regularly, especially after bathing, to help lock in moisture.
Avoid Triggers
If possible identify and avoid triggers that may exacerbate your eczema symptoms. Common triggers are certain fabrics (wool & polyester), harsh soaps & detergents, perfumes, extreme temperatures and stress.
Use Fragrance Free
Use gentle, fragrant free products, mild soaps, fragrant free cleansers & laundry detergents. Harsh soaps & detergents can strip away the natural oils from your skin, leading to dryness and irritation.
Lukewarm showers
Take lukewarm (rather than hot) showers and baths. How water can worsen eczema symptoms. Avoid tight fitting clothes and opt for natural fabrics.
Avoid Scratching
Keep your nails short, long nails can cause unintentional scratching & further damage to your skin.
Scratching can worsen symptoms and lead to skin infections. To help relieve itching apply cold compress and then apply Apicare's Rescue me soothing gel.
